The hardest to find is the scph5501.bin, but its MD5 is identical of scph7003 so you can rename 7003 to 5501 and it will work. Note that the file names are case sensitive, thus they must be named exactly as listed above to avoid problems. PSx Bios scph1001.bin - PlayStation BIOS. A BIOS file is a mandatory component that has one goal - to make the emulator work. Simply put, BIOS or Basic Input Output System is the powerful hardware and the main thing your device reads when you turn it on. I've been trying to run the Mednafen emulator, but it will not open a game. I read around that Mednafen only reads bin/cue images, and that it requires the SCPH-5501 bios file.. i believe this is for North American games.
I have already downloaded a collection of 15 different psx bios files from EmuParadise, but it's missing the 5501 bios. I did some digging, and others are saying that scph7003 is the same bios as scph5501. For some reason Mednafen is choosing not to read the 7003 bios, and so I'm wondering if it would be smart to copy the 7003 bios and rename it 5501?
